MWA Special Risks is a UK-based insurance brokerage firm offering global solutions to clients worldwide.

Founder, Michael Ward, started in insurance in 1990, learning his trade from a young age, securing professional qualifications and gaining a deep understanding of the industry by working for the UK’s largest independently-owned high street insurance brand.

Michael’s career evolved by setting up his own brokerage firm specialising in providing tailored protection solutions for high profile professional sportsmen and women, entertainers and celebrities, entrepreneurs, company owners and high net worth individuals who needed personalised cover to protect themselves and their assets.

In 2010, he was headhunted to work with a leading global insurer, joining the sports, recreation and entertainment division, before moving on to manage a portfolio of the world’s biggest accountancy and law firms.

In 2020, Michael took the decision to return to his own independent practice, utilising the experience, skills and connections forged through three decades in the industry to support private and business clients whose needs were not being catered for by standard and inflexible insurance policies.

MWA Special Risks was formed with a focus on
establishing a thorough understanding of our clients’ needs to build long standing relationships. We are proud to say that the majority of new clients come from personal recommendations.

Suraya also liaises with underwriters to ensure all policy documentation is accurate and issued by our insurer partners in a timely manner.
